The corrosion rate of steel pipe piles embedded
in the ground is extremely low - approximately 0.014mm/year.
About 2mm for corrosion thickness can therefor be assumed to be
sufficient as an anti-corrosion measure for steel pipe piles. However,
the rate of corrosion increases slightly for steel installed in sea
water, especially in the splash zone.
