Rails 2014

J Steel Australasia is happy to announce we have extended our long standing relationship with ArcelorMittal to include exclusive representation for transport rail, along with steel sheet piles and structural sections.

ArcelorMittal is the world’s largest steel producer and a leader in rail production with over 1 Million MT capacity in 4 countries with 5 plants.

Today only a very small group of manufactures combines a long experience with a dynamic and continuous improvement to their facilities and processes. The factor that differentiates this select group of manufactures from their competitors is their high technological level, which allows them to supply a rail of excellent quality, capable of meeting the present and future needs of the most demanding users.

ArcelorMittal mills produce transport rails (in normal carbon steel, micro alloyed and head hardened), tram rail, crane rails, light rails crossover rails and accessories which are used in High Speed Lines -railways , Heavy Haul Lines - freight , Conventional lines – subways and railways., Tram way, Light rail, crane rails –ports and tunnel boring.

J Steel and Arcelor Mittal are accredited to ISO9001: and ISO 14001.  The stringent requirements regarding rail characteristics and performance led to the implementation of a total quality control system designed to guarantee the characteristics of the final product.

The rolling mills have obtained certification from many international companies with a wide range of standards including Australian Specification AS 1085.1

Approximately 25% of the steel used for rail production comes from recycled steel, leading to a considerable reduction in the consumption of raw materials and energy. The use of railways presents a significant decrease in the consumption of fossile fuels compared to other modes of transport such as cars. The CO2 emissions are much lower.

At the end of the rail life cycle it is again fully recycled as scrap without losing any of its properties thus reducing the consumption of natural resources.

  • A variety of rail sizes from 40 Kg to 80 Kg/ metre
  • A wide range of  steel grades to international standards or to the customers own technical specifications, both for the construction of new tracks and for revamping existing ones
  • Possibility to manufacture new types of rail (min quantities required)
  • Rail length up to 90 metres long
  • Aysmetrical rails
  • Technical support and tailor made assistance
  • World wide references with over 1.0 million tonnes for High speed application and over 500,000 mt for Heavy Haul lines
  • In line Head Hardening facilities allows for the production of AS 60kg and AS 68 kg rails in normal carbon and head hardened quality
